U.S. politician makes 5th super suspicious military stock trade
April 08, 2026
United States Representative Gilbert Cisneros has reported a fifth investment in defense contractor AeroVironment (NASDAQ: AVAV), a transaction likely to raise suspicion due to his role in Congress.
His latest disclosure shows a March 3, 2026, AVAV stock purchase valued between $1,001 and $15,000, filed on April 7. While the filing does not specify the asset owner, it confirms continued accumulation, bringing total exposure to as much as $75,000.
What makes the trade stand out is its timing and performance. Since the March 3 purchase, AeroVironment shares have fallen about 18.16%, underperforming the S&P 500’s 3.15% decline and extending an ongoing downtrend from earlier highs.
The repeated Congress trades have drawn attention because AeroVironment specializes in military drones and autonomous systems used by the U.S. Department of Defense and its allies.

This places the purchases under closer scrutiny, given Cisneros’ access to sensitive defense insights.
Beyond AeroVironment, the disclosure outlined a wide range of other trades across the technology and industrial sectors.
For instance, Cisneros reported transactions in Advanced Energy Industries (NASDAQ: AEIS), which he later sold, as well as positions in Alibaba (NYSE: BABA), Fiserv (NASDAQ: FISV), Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU), and Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ: PANW).
AVAV stock volatility
Notably, AeroVironment has experienced significant volatility in recent months. By press time, AVAV stock was trading at $187, up nearly 0.5% on the day, while year to date the equity has plunged 22%.

The stock remains well below its 52-week high of $417, reflecting investor concerns around contract uncertainty despite continued operational momentum.
At the same time, the company’s latest quarterly results highlighted both strong growth and underlying challenges.
Revenue surged to $408 million, representing a 143% year-over-year increase, driven by acquisitions and robust organic expansion.
Its Autonomous Systems division led performance, while contributions from space, cyber, and directed energy segments also supported overall growth.
Despite lowering its full-year guidance due to order timing and softness in certain segments, AeroVironment continues to secure new military contracts.
Meanwhile, recent wins include a $25 million agreement with the Air Force Research Laboratory focused on human performance technologies, as well as U.S. Navy work involving advanced unmanned aerial systems.
Additional contracts with the U.S. Army further reinforce its position in the evolving defense landscape.
